U.S. based physics experiments and grid projects have made initial demonstrations of the capabilities and benefits of distributed data grids for scientific data processing and analysis. The U.S. HENP communities are continuing to work with grid technology providers to construct the permanent grid infrastructure necessary to meet the data analysis requirements of the LHC experiments at CERN. The OSG is proposed as a strategic direction to build a national grid infrastructure for science.
